Community Garden
A "growing" idea to use some of our land to provide food and teach our children about gardening. We strive to be good stewards of God's creation! In addition to our community garden we have a rain garden that helps cleans runoff that enters into Linville Creek.

Ways we serve
Service is an important way we live out our faith. Our congregation seeks ways to serve our community and world. Some examples of how members of our congregation are serving are disaster ministry response, refugee resettlement, meals on wheels, hosting Red Cross blood drives, youth workcamps, and more!

Plains Area Daycare
Our church has committed to supporting the important work of the daycare by providing collecting items to help support the staff and the families. We have collected wipes, diapers, gloves/hats, and donated money to help replace the schools tricycles. We also provided funds to set up scholarship opportunities for families. For the month of February we are inviting all to attend a fundraiser breakfast at Sunset UMC on the 9th from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m.

Fulks Run Food Bags
Our church has committed to providing snack bags for the rest of the school year for about 60 children at Fulks Run Elementary. This is a large undertaking and we invite the community to get involved. If you would like to help we are collecting soup-like items in the month of February. Some child friendly recommendations include chicken noodle soup, tomato soup, SpaghettiOs, and canned ravioli. Reach out to the church office with questions!

Comfort Knotting
The comfort knotting group gathers each month to make blankets that go to support many in our community and beyond. All are welcome and no experience is required! In 2024 the group donated 84 blankets! 37 went to the Ruritans for flood recovery, 26 were donated to Salvation Army, 16 to the Mercy House, 5 others were donated for various causes!
